ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Rev Fr Gilbert Ikechukwu Chukwanugo Ohai was born on September 7, 1950 to Mr Matthias and Susanna Ohai of Umuona, Umueke Amofu Ekwegbe in Igbo-etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was the second out of the three children of his parents. He had his primary education at St Joseph Catholic School, Ekwegbe. He later left with his brother, Mathew Sunday Ohai to Premier School, Ukehe where he got his First School Leaving Certificate in 1970. The Missionary Daughters of Fr Gilbert Ohai (MDGO) is the product of the seed of faith sown by the blood of a martyr, Reverend Fr Gilbert Ikechukwu Ohai whose blood was shed in the remote riverine area of Oroma-Etiti, Anam in Anambra West of Anambra State in the year, 2003 and the aftermath of series of inspirations got during meditations and visitation of the village where a great majority of the villagers are still core pagans. It is a continuation of, and the immortalization of the mission of Christ which the holy priest had desired strongly to fulfill before his martyrdom.
Missionary Daughters of Father Gilbert Ohai (MDGO) was founded by Rev Sr Maria-Consolata Elochukwu Ekwelibe, a member of the Catholic Society of the Sacred/Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary, an academic doctor of English and lecturer at Imo State University in Owerri.
